Ahungalla is a peaceful coastal village in Sri Lanka, located close to well known beach destinations such as Bentota, Kosgoda, Balapitiya, Hikkaduwa, and Galle. This part of the coastline is closely connected with sea turtle awareness, nesting beaches, and marine conservation activities.
At Ahungalla Sea Turtle Conservation Project, our mission is to support the protection of sea turtles through responsible care, education, volunteer support, beach cleaning, awareness programs, and conservation focused project work.
Sea turtles are beautiful, ancient, and important marine animals. They travel across oceans, return to beaches to nest, and play an important role in the health of marine ecosystems. Sadly, they face many threats, including plastic pollution, fishing related injuries, egg poaching, coastal development, artificial lights, and careless human disturbance.
Our project was created to give people a chance to learn, support, and take part in responsible sea turtle conservation in Sri Lanka. We believe conservation should be honest, educational, and always focused on the welfare of sea turtles.
